The city of Frederick is looking to fill an opening on its Historic Preservation Commission.
Interested individuals should submit a letter of interest and résumé to the city no later than 4 p.m. July 22, according to a city statement sent Friday.
The seven-member Historic Preservation Commission is charged with applying preservation guidelines to projects to demolish or change the exterior of designated landmarks, sites, structures or districts within the city. The commission also uses those criteria to recommend new places for designation.
All commission members must demonstrate an interest in historic preservation either through formal training, professional or volunteer experience, or active membership with a preservation-related organization, the release states. The city may give preference to applicants with professional or academic training in specific preservation fields such as history, architecture, architectural history, planning, archaeology, anthropology, curation, conservation, landscape architecture, historic preservation and urban design.
Non-city residents must have academic or professional training or specific knowledge in these areas to be eligible.
