The Charles County Historic Preservation Commission held their third Preservation Reception and Awards Ceremony on February 22 with a great turnout. Two Preservation Service Awards were given, one recognizing individuals who conducted research work on Charles County historic site files and the other commending the representatives of the Piscataway tribes for work on the American Indian Center and Piscataway Indian Museum. Two Preservation Project Awards were given for restoration of a historic log tobacco barn and Thainston Farm. Historic Preservation Commission staffer Cathy Thompson and State Highway Administration chief archaeologist Julie Schablitsky also spoke. Read more.
