The Town of Chestertown is seeking a qualified volunteer to serve as one of seven commissioners on the Chestertown Historic District Commission.

The HDC reviews building permits for exterior renovations and new construction in the Chestertown Historic District. Its mission is to protect the cultural, social, economic, political, archaeological and architectural history of the town, stabilize and improve property values, foster civic beauty, strengthen the local economy and promote the preservation and appreciation of Historic Districts.

Meetings are held at 5 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month. Commissioners should have a demonstrated special interest, specific knowledge or professional or academic training in history, architecture, history, planning, archaeology, anthropology, curation, conservation, landscape architecture, historic preservation, urban design or related disciplines.

Send in a letter of interest and two-page résumé to Mayor Chris Cerino, 118 N. Cross St., Chestertown, MD 21620. Commissioners are nominated by the mayor and approved by the town council.
